· HISTORICAL ARTIST IN PAINTING:
Leonardo Da Vinci, Mona Lisa, painted between 1503 and 1517. Who’s the subject and
why is she smiling? A number of theories for the former have been proffered
over the years: That she’s the wife of the Florentine merchant Francesco di
Bartolomeo del Giocondo (ergo, the work’s alternative title, La Gioconda);
that she's Leonardo’s mother, Caterina, conjured from Leonardo's boyhood
memories of her.
Johannes Vermeer, Girl with a Pearl Earring, Johannes Vermeer’s 1665 study of a young woman is startlingly real and startlingly modern, almost as if it were a photograph. Technically speaking, Girl isn’t a portrait, but rather an example of the Dutch genre called a tronie a headshot meant more as still life of facial features than as an attempt to capture a likeness.
· HISTORICAL
ARTIST IN GRAPHIC DESIGNING
Paul Rand (1914 - 1996), In 1947, Rand published his book titled Thoughts on
Design which contained theories and beliefs that shaped the
entire future of graphic design. One of his largest points was the ideology
that graphic design should be a “functional-aesthetic perfection”. The balance
between beauty and practicality was one that he believed should be executed in
order to make something look good while getting the message across in an effective
manner.
Ruth Ansel (1938), Ansel is an
American graphic designer who became one of two art directors of Harper’s Bazaar, and the
first female art director of The
New York Times Magazine, House
& Garden, Vanity
Fair, and Vogue all
in one lifetime. For over 40 years, Ansel has worked with artists,
photographers, and illustrators alike.
· HISTORICAL
ARTIST IN GRAPHIC IN PHOTOGRAPHY
Margaret Bourke-White – one of the early women photojournalists and photographer
for LIFE magazine, she is one of my own personal heroes. If you can get your
hands on a copy of the movie depicting her life (she’s played by Farrah Fawcett
brilliantly) do so and watch it! She was known to be fearless (or crazy) and
she created the last portrait of Gandhi hours
before his assassination.
PHOTOMOSAIC
What I can say about this photo that I
made, actually the photos that I’ve attached in that photo is just random
photos, but I think, all the elements and the principles is already in there. All
the line, shapes, color, value, form, texture, space, balance, contrast,
emphasis, movement, pattern, rhythm, and the unity. Because it’s just a random
photos.
